Rules: Running and Walking
By default, Neverwinter Nights makes you run everywhere. I’d prefer if you didn’t do this.
You can make yourself walk instead of run by shift-clicking, by putting yourself in detect mode (unless you’re an elf,) or by setting drive mode in the options and using the keyboard to move your character. Walking is better for a number of reasons – it helps keep the party together, it helps me have time to set stuff up ahead of you, it keeps you from dashing headfirst into trouble, and it makes more sense from a roleplaying point of view.
I’m not saying you can never run. There are all sorts of reasons why you might want to run. Just don’t run when it makes more sense to walk.
